I am Michael Mason and I have been involved in photography for well over fifty years. I have undertaken photographic assignments in Europe, the Caribbean, the United States of America and the Antipodes, including for a number for charitable institutions and personal celebrations.
In 1990 I was awarded the City and Guilds Certificate in Photography on successful completion of the 9231 Photography Course, three of the five modules with distinction and two with credit. I was subsequently enrolled as a Licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS).
I am an advocate of straight photography and specialise in travel, landscape and townscape images with people pictures included where the subjects warrant them. I realise that personal tastes vary but I hope you enjoy looking at my photographs as much as I enjoyed taking them.
I have been an active member of the Crawley Camera Club and was the Vice-Chairman and Programme Secretary.
I admire the work of many professional photographers, especially those from whom the following quotations are taken...
"Photography for me is not looking, it is feeling. If you cannot feel what you are looking at, then you are never going to get others to feel anything when they look at your pictures." Don McCullin 'Unreasonable Behaviour'.
"We are passive onlookers in a world that moves perpetually. Our only moment of creation is that 1/125 of a second when the shutter clicks." Henri Cartier-Bresson 'The Decisive Moment' (the original French version was entitled 'Images à la Sauvette')
"My approach to photography is based on my belief in the aspects of grandeur and of the minutiae all about us." Ansel Adams..
